Nginx is an open-source high performance web server (and much more!).
Nginx doesn't have a pfSense package.
The standard FreeBSD process does not quite work for installing Nginx of pfSense. A few modifications are needed. This is the process to follow.
Install the nginx package
edit the configuration
This is the part that is different for pfSense. Note the .local on rc.conf
echo 'nginx_enable="YES"' >> /etc/rc.conf.local
Also the startup script needs renaming for pfSense
mv /usr/local/etc/rc.d/nginx /usr/local/etc/rc.d/nginx.sh
